Local speaker and novelist Dr Justin Newland will explore the significance of the Age of Reason aka The Great Enlightenment - that seething cauldron of ideas in the18th Century which saw the first global war, the birth of the Industrial Revolution, the beginning of the science of chemistry as well as advances in anatomy and taxonomy.
